A journey filled with winter magic, culture, and authentic Greek moments.

Day 1 – Athens: Christmas Markets & Historic Glow

Start your winter adventure in Athens, where Christmas merges effortlessly with ancient history. December in the city is mild but festive, illuminated by lights, orchestras, and cozy open-air markets.

Morning – Syntagma Square & Festive Walk

  • Begin at Syntagma Square, where the city’s main Christmas tree stands tall and bright.
  • Stroll towards Ermou Street, filled with decorated shop windows, buskers playing festive melodies, and bakeries offering melomakarona and kourabiedes.

Afternoon – Athens Christmas Markets

The city’s most beloved holiday markets include:

  • The Christmas Factory in Technopolis (Gazi) – funfair rides, stalls, artisan shops.
  • Zappeion Christmas Park – classic wooden chalets, roasted chestnuts, mulled wine, and Greek festive street food.

Both markets offer a cheerful blend of tradition and modern holiday charm.

Evening – Plaka by Night

Wander through Plaka, where stone steps and neoclassical houses shimmer with lights.
Dinner suggestion: a warm plate of moussaka, souvlaki, or slow-cooked lamb at a cozy taverna overlooking the illuminated Acropolis.
