Our Story
It started with a love for Greece. And a feeling that there was so much more to tell.
Some people visit Greece and fall in love with the beaches. Others fall for the food, the islands, the sunshine, the history. For me, it was everything. And, eventually, it became home.
Visit & Explore
Over the years, I travelled through Greece, discovered places far beyond the famous postcards, met wonderful local people, ate at family-run restaurants, wandered through villages, got lost on little roads and kept collecting stories. And I noticed something.
The Greece I was falling in love with wasn't always the Greece I saw being talked about online.
There was another Greece. The Greece of tiny tavernas where generations of the same family still work together. Of villages where life follows a completely different rhythm. Of local festivals, old traditions and stories passed from one generation to the next. Of unexpected beaches, mountain roads and islands that don't need a list of "top 10 things to do." Of people who make you feel at home even when you've only just arrived.
From a Personal Passion to a Magazine
And then there is the Greece of today... Creative, changing, modern and increasingly becoming a place where people don't just come for a holiday, but choose to live, work, create and build a life. I wanted to create a place that captured all of this.
So Greece Enthusiast was born.
What started as a simple idea grew into a digital magazine for people who share that same curiosity about Greece. Not a conventional travel guide. Not another list of the places everyone already knows. But a collection of stories, discoveries and practical inspiration for people who want to experience Greece rather than simply visit it.
I wanted Greece Enthusiast to feel like having a friend who knows Greece really well. Someone who might tell you about a little island you've never heard of, recommend the village worth a detour, explain why Greeks celebrate something in a particular way or introduce you to a family whose story has been part of a place for generations. And I wanted it to be useful too. Because loving Greece doesn't always mean coming here for two weeks in August. Maybe you're planning your next holiday, you've already visited dozens of times and still want to discover more, you're dreaming about moving here, you're working remotely from Greece or you're simply fascinated by the country and want to understand its culture, people and way of life a little better.
There is a place for all of you here.
Why "Enthusiast"?
Because we didn't want to create something only for tourists. We wanted to create something for people who have that particular feeling about Greece. The people who see a beautiful little street and immediately want to know where it leads. Who choose the local bakery over the chain café. Who want to know what is behind the name of an island, why a village celebrates a particular festival, what a grandmother is cooking in her kitchen, where the locals go when the tourists leave or what to do when you face a challenge living here. People who don't just say "I like Greece." Instead, they say: "I want to know more." That's a Greece Enthusiast.
And This is Only the Beginning - The Journey Continues
What began as a magazine is becoming something bigger. A place where Greece lovers can discover, plan, learn and be inspired, whether they are visiting for a few days, returning every summer, working remotely from the country or considering making Greece their home.
The magazine is at the heart of it. But around it, we're building a growing collection of guides, itineraries, digital products, stories, recommendations and experiences designed to help you discover more of Greece and, hopefully, see some of it through a slightly different lens.
Because there will always be another island. Another village. Another story. Another table waiting to be shared. Another reason to fall in love with Greece.
And I can't wait to discover it with you.
Welcome to Greece Enthusiast.
Come curious. Leave inspired.
