Cookie Policy

Last updated: 14 October 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Greece Enthusiast uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit greeceenthusiast.com (the "Website"), including our online shop. It describes what these technologies are, why we use them and how you can control them. Please read it together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we process personal data more generally.

1. Who we are

The Website is operated by Greece Enthusiast, Anatolikis Romilias 48, Neapoli, Thessaloniki, 56728, Greece, VAT number EL176541402 ("we", "us", "our"). If you have any questions about this policy or our use of cookies, please contact us at hello@greeceenthusiast.com.

2. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device (computer, tablet or phone) when you visit it. They allow the website to recognise your device, remember your actions and preferences over time, and make certain features work, such as keeping items in your shopping cart or keeping you logged in.

Cookies set directly by the Website are called first-party cookies. Cookies set by other companies whose services we use on the Website, such as our payment provider, are called third-party cookies.

Some cookies are deleted as soon as you close your browser (session cookies). Others remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them (persistent cookies).

We also use similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage. In this policy, the term "cookies" covers these technologies as well.

3. How we use cookies

Without asking for your consent, we only place cookies that are strictly necessary for the Website to function. All other cookies are placed only after you have given your consent through the cookie banner shown on your first visit. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time, as explained in section 5.

3.1 Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential for the Website and the shop to work. They make it possible to add products to your cart, complete a purchase securely, log in to your account and remember your cookie choices. They cannot be switched off in our systems. You can block them in your browser, but parts of the Website, including checkout, will then not work.

  • woocommerce_cart_hash: helps the shop detect when the contents of your cart change. Duration: session.
  • woocommerce_items_in_cart: records whether your cart contains any items. Duration: session.
  • wp_woocommerce_session_*: contains a unique identifier for your shopping session so the shop can keep your cart and checkout details. Duration: 2 days.
  • wordpress_test_cookie: checks whether your browser accepts cookies. Duration: session.
  • wordpress_logged_in_* and wordpress_sec_*: keep you logged in to your customer account and protect your account. Set only if you log in. Duration: session, or 14 days if you choose "Remember me".
  • wp-settings-* and wp-settings-time-*: store display preferences for logged-in users. Duration: 1 year.
  • CONSENT COOKIE NAME: stores your cookie preferences so that we do not ask you again on every visit. Duration: CONSENT COOKIE DURATION.

3.2 Payment and fraud prevention cookies

Payments on the Website are processed by Stripe Payments Europe, Limited ("Stripe"). When you go to checkout, Stripe sets cookies that are necessary to process your payment securely and to detect and prevent fraud. Because they are required to complete a purchase you have requested, these cookies are treated as strictly necessary.

  • __stripe_mid: fraud prevention identifier. Duration: 1 year.
  • __stripe_sid: fraud prevention identifier for the current session. Duration: 30 minutes.
  • m: set on Stripe's own domain to help detect fraudulent payments. Duration: up to 2 years.

Stripe processes this information as an independent controller. For more information, please see Stripe's Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

3.3 Functional cookies and local storage

These technologies improve your experience but are not essential. We use them only with your consent.

  • pvp_rv (local storage): remembers the products you have recently viewed in our shop so we can show them to you on product pages. It contains only product identifiers and stays in your browser until you clear it. It is not sent to us automatically and is not shared with third parties.
  • comment_author_*, comment_author_email_* and comment_author_url_*: if you leave a comment and choose to have your details saved, these remember your name, email address and website for future comments. Duration: approximately 1 year.

3.4 Statistics and analytics cookies

These cookies help us understand how visitors find and use the Website, which articles and products are most popular, and how we can improve. We use them only with your consent.

  • sbjs_migrations, sbjs_current_add, sbjs_first_add, sbjs_current, sbjs_first, sbjs_udata and sbjs_session: set by our shop software (WooCommerce order attribution) to record how you arrived at the Website, for example from a search engine, a social network or a direct visit, so that we can see which channels lead to purchases. Duration: up to 6 months; sbjs_session expires after 30 minutes of inactivity.
  • ANALYTICS COOKIE NAMES: set by ANALYTICS PROVIDER to collect statistics about visits, such as pages viewed, time spent on a page and the type of device used. Duration: ANALYTICS COOKIE DURATION.

3.5 Embedded content from other websites

Some articles may include embedded content from third parties, such as videos, maps or social media posts. Embedded content behaves in the same way as if you had visited the other website directly, and that website may set its own cookies. We load such content only after you have given your consent, or we show a placeholder that you can click to load it. The cookies these providers set are governed by their own cookie policies.

4. Cookies we do not use

We do not use cookies to show you personalised advertising, and we do not sell information collected through cookies to anyone.

5. Your choices and how to manage cookies

5.1 Through our cookie banner

When you first visit the Website, a cookie banner lets you accept all cookies, reject all non-essential cookies or choose which categories you allow. Rejecting non-essential cookies is as easy as accepting them, and the Website, including the shop, remains fully usable either way. You can change your choices or withdraw your consent at any time by clicking "Cookie settings" in the footer of the Website. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdrew it.

5.2 Through your browser

Most browsers let you view, block and delete cookies and local storage through their settings. You can usually find these options under "Settings", "Privacy" or "Security" in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge and other browsers. Please note that if you block all cookies, including strictly necessary ones, you will not be able to complete a purchase on the Website.

5.3 Opting out of analytics

In addition to our cookie banner, some analytics providers offer their own opt-out tools. Details are available on the website of ANALYTICS PROVIDER.

6. Legal basis

We place strictly necessary cookies on the basis that they are required to provide the service you have requested, as permitted by Article 5(3) of the EU ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC) and Article 4(5) of Greek Law 3471/2006, which implements it in Greece. Where these cookies involve personal data, we process that data on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating a secure and functioning website and shop, and to perform our contract with you when you make a purchase (Article 6(1)(f) and Article 6(1)(b) of the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679, the "GDPR").

All other cookies are placed only on the basis of your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).

7. International data transfers

Some of the third-party providers mentioned in this policy, such as Stripe and ANALYTICS PROVIDER, may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where this happens, the transfer is protected by appropriate safeguards, such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

8. Your rights

Where cookies involve the processing of your personal data, you have the rights described in our Privacy Policy, including the right to access, rectify and erase your data, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. In Greece, this is the Hellenic Data Protection Authority. You may also contact the authority in the EU country where you live or work, or where you believe an infringement has taken place.

9. Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example when we add new features or services to the Website or when the law changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated. If we make significant changes, we will ask for your consent again where required.
